'Ensure voting by disabled'

Speakers at a discussion meeting here yesterday demanded steps by the authorities to ensure voting by physically challenged people in the coming election. Ignoring their votes amounts to violation of their fundamental right, they said at the meeting, jointly organised by ADD, an NGO and Rangpur Protibondhi Foundation. It was addressed by, among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kallol Kumar Chakravarti, District Election Officer Subash Chandra Sarker and ADD Area Coordinator Aziz Ahmed. It was held on the Shaheed Minar premises in observance of International Disability Day. Earlier in the morning, several hundred physically challenged people brought out a colourful rally in the town marking the day.
