RU staff stage hunger strike

Several hundred officials and staff of Rajshahi University (RU) under the banner of Officer and Karmachari Oikya Parishad staged a token hunger strike for the second day yesterday to press their four-point demand including extension of service age to 65 from 60, refund of 20 per cent pension money and job quota for their dependents in the university. The urged the university authorities y to meet their demands by December 8 and threatened of starting a fast-unto-death from the folowing day. The also held a rally in front opf the administrative building before starting the hunger strike there. It was presided over by the Oikya president Mirza Wazed Hossain Beg. Meanwhile, RU authorities at a Syndicate meeting Sunday regularised services of 31 employees.
