Tk 25 Lakh Poly Bags Missing
Zia Fertiliser DGM faces show cause, 3 suspended


Ashuganj Zia Fertiliser Company Limited (ZFCL) deputy general manager (DGM) faced a show-cause notice following detection of shortage of 2,57,700 polythene bags worth Tk 25 lakh from its chemical godown recently.

Three factory staff were suspended for alleged involvement in the misdeed. They are assistant manager (chemical godown) Abdus Salam, store-keeper Golam Nabi and store worker Anwar Mia.

DGM Emdadul Haque was served with the show-cause notice for his 'negligence in duties'.

The higher authorities sent a team of officials to the store to check it. The team consisted of MPIP chief Kazi Sahadat Hossain, store in-charge Abdus Salam, polythene keeper Gulam Nabi including the store chief. While counting the polythene bags, the team members found shortage of 2,57,700 polythene bags worth about Tk 25 lakh.

On information, the higher authorities formed a three-member probe body to investigate into the incident. Its members consisted of the manager of administration, Ainul Haque, general manager (GM) (Finance) Sayed Muhammad Mustafa and chief engineer (CE) Ruhul Amin.

Action was taken against the DGM and three staff Wednesday afternoon following submission of the committee report Tuesday evening.
