PSP threatens to launch movement

Patkal Sangram Parishad (PSP), an organisation of the workers and employees of eight state-owned jute mills of Khulna-Jessore industrial belt, will enforce a movement from today to press home their eight-point demands.It was resolved in a public meeting held at Khalishpur yesterday afternoon, presided by Convener of Khulna-Jessore regional unit of PSP Sarder Motaharuddin. The eight-point demands include payment of all arrears amounting to Tk 20 crore, reopening of all closed jute mills, reinstatement of retrenched employees and workers and allocation of fund needed for purchasing raw materials to run the jute mills. The public meeting was addressed by prominent labour leaders Hafizur Rahman Bhuiyan, Shah Alam, Siddiqur Rahman, Farazi Nazrul Islam and Md Yazdan Ali. AL-led 14-party alliance has already expressed their solidarity with the movement of Patkal Sangram Parishad.
