In a statement, Parishad leaders said the intervention by the chief justice minutes before a High Court bench was to deliver its order regarding the writ petitions has deepened the constitutional and political crisis, which was created following the president's taking over as chief adviser.

Such a step would push the judiciary into ruination, they added.

They also demanded resignation of the chief adviser and the attorney general and reconstitution of the Election Commission (EC).
