BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan reprimanded Gaziul Hasan Khan for making 'freestyle' speech during a press briefing organised by the party at its central office yesterday. The caretaker government on Thursday cancelled the appointment of Gaziul Hasan Khan as the managing director and editor of state-owned news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS). At the beginning of yesterday's press briefing, Gaziul Hasan, known as a pro-BNP man in journalist community, started speaking on his own and his speech seemed 'political' as he said, "Honourable secretary general...Awami League has begun the fight for going to power." At this stage Mannan Bhuiyan stopped him, saying that Gaziul Hasan is not working for any newspaper or news agency now. As Gaziul gave his identity as a columnist, the BNP leader said, "It's a press briefing... not a place for columnists."
