The Jatiya Oikya Mancha said another Sultana Kamal, wife of former lawmaker and Gonoforum leader Mofijul Islam Kamal and the daughter of former minister captain (retd) Abdul Halim, is a member of the party.

Talking to The Daily Star, Pankaj Bhattacharya, a senior leader of the platform, termed BNP secretary general's allegation about Adviser Sultana Kamal a blatant lie.

Pankaj, also a presidium member of Gonoforum, a party belonging to the platform, said he did not expect this kind of misleading statement from a politician like Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan.

"Once Bhuiyan was my political colleague and I cannot believe he could raise such baseless and false allegation against anyone," Pankaj said.

Earlier, BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, in a press briefing, alleged that Adviser Sultana Kamal, daughter of Poet Sufia Kamal, was involved with Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Mancha.

Bhuiyan hoped Adviser Sultana Kamal would resign as she belonged to a political party.

Jamaat-e-Islami, in a press conference yesterday, also alleged that Adviser Sultana Kamal was involved with Jatiya Oikya Mancha.
