Saddam's trial

The former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein has been under trial for quite some time now and the investigative agencies authorised and controlled by the Pentagon-cum-CIA are making a mockery of legal procedures by prolonging the trial endlessly and continuing to make Saddam's life miserable by forcing him to walk out the hall in protest every now then. One is not sure what exactly the USA and its coalition partners are finally going to do with Saddam who lost power to the occupation forces chiefly because of his anti-USA stand and his concern for protecting the Iraqi energy resources from the hands of the USA and not because of any absence of US brand democracy in that country. Iraq, like Afghanistan, is now being ruined by terrorist attacks engineered by the US led forces and the Muslims particularly in Arab world are being tortured and, according to their estimates, over 100 persons are killed every day on an average. Meanwhile the USA and its allies have invaded Lebanon and Palestine and Saddam's fate has been hanging in the court. The Islamic world is still divided over Sunni-Shia details. One is astonished to see that Saddam has been answering the questions, perhaps hoping that the power would be returned to him and he would be back in Baghdad to lead his people and if he tries to be obedient to the enquiry officials he would be safe. As it is evident, the USA has been vehemently trying to justify its illegal invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq on fictitious pretexts for which it obtained tacit approval of some so-called Islamic countries as well and Saddam is not be expected to believe the Bush administration to be fair to him in any way.

After Iraq's fall, the Iran has also been forced to take up the challenge from the world's most powerful country in spite of the weak position it has been pushed into owing to a long war with Iraq. Now the US bell rings around Tehran and it has to be ready for possible air-strikes of the US led forces and, disregarding the nuke testing in North Korea and considering the Pentagon's long term goals of controlling the world, must not to just stop at rhetoric alone by trusting the positive intelligence reports, as Saddam Hussein perhaps did by trusting his Republican Guards at Baghdad that seemingly had close links with USA' s Pentagon and CIA networks. Thus although Saddam before US invasion of Iraq had also reiterated that Iraq would give a fitting response to the Allied forces if they ever attacked Iraq the war ended quickly resulting in the destruction and looting of Iraq and ultimate control of the energy resources by the US led forces. A few years down the line, the USA and its allies are almost settled down in Iraq destroying it by engineering violence and killings, while Saddam Hussein who, according to the Bush administration, was caught, from a hole where he was reportedly hiding, is now in jail awaiting the imminent at the hands of the USA led forces.

Assisted by the global media, the USA has spread make-believe stories around the world about terrorism and Islam. As the world is at a loss as to the fate of Osama, the suspicion that he never existed is gaining ground and none is bothered about what happens to the Muslims in the world on account of the terror card being used by the world powers and as such the fate of Saddam would not cause any problem to the world either. His protests and walkouts amidst answering for his anti-American and pro-EU rhetoric have no meaning at all in the present uni-polar context. Yugoslavian Slobodan Milosevic's fate remains a glaring example of what could happen to any leader opposing the USA, if the superpower wills it that way. One is therefore unsure if the USA would prolong the trial until Iran and Syria are also invaded by the US led forces, currently facing some bottlenecks to pursue the agenda quickly enough. One wonders, in case Saddam is fully aware of the reality that the USA, given the Pentagon agenda in Middle East, is not going to spare his life, then why should he attempt to cooperate with the US investigative authority at all. The dramatic event since the start of the trial point only to the unreliability of the trail and also sustains the suspicion (which I raised at the start of the trial) if it is really Saddam Hussein who is being tried.
