At a central convener committee meeting yesterday, the association also urged the chief advisor to remove all the commissioners, including the Chief Election Commissioner Justice MA Aziz, and replace them with trusted and neutral persons acceptable to all the political parties.

Association members Mohammad Ali, Khabiruzzaman, Monwar Hossain Chowdhury, Abdul Wazed, Dr Habibur Rahman, Farhad Hossain, Dr Safdar Ali, Waseul Kabir and Mohammad Hossain spoke at the meeting, a press release said.

They demanded cancellation of all the contractual appointments by the previous government under political consideration in the civil and police administration and appoint non-partisan officials in their posts on an emergency basis.

At the meeting in the city presided by Dr SM Nazrul Islam, the engineers said the chief advisor has to cancel the contracts of the chief engineers of the autonomous bodies and engineering department and replace them with neutral engineers.

The association condemned ransacking the room of Engineers Institution General Secretary Engineer MA Sabur and demanded punishment to the people involved in the incident.

The countrymen have doubt over the neutrality of Iajuddin Ahmed, as he is a partisan person, and that is why he has to prove his neutrality by his activities in holding the next election in a free and fair manner, the press release noted.
