Prove neutrality
Sangskritik Jote urges President

Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, a platform of cultural activists, yesterday urged the President and Chief of caretaker government to prove that he is not the representative of a political party, rather he is neutral and unbiased.

At a press conference in the city Jote leaders also urged him to take some "steps that would prove his neutrality as well as ensure free and fair general election."

They called upon the President to appoint neutral persons as Advisors, sack incumbent election commissioners including CEC Justice M A Aziz and appoint competent persons in the Election Commission.

They also urged the President to update the voter list by excluding nearly 1.5 crore fake voters from it.

Jote General Secretary Golam Kuddus said the President should ensure neutrality of the administration by cancelling all contractual appointments and transferring the secretaries, additional secretaries, deputy commissioners, superintendents of police and upazila nirbahi officers from their current postings.

He also urged the President to ensure the impartiality of all government media including Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar.

He also suggested for bringing the private television channels under regulatory policy so that those cannot act as mouthpieces of any political party.

Jote President Nasir Uddin Yusuf Bachchu, Vice- presidents Asaduzzaman Noor and Muhammad Samad, its former president Ramendu Majumdar and Trustee of Liberation War Museum Mafizul Huq also spoke at the press conference.
