Resist bid to establish two-party democracy
Urge Jamaat leaders

Any attempt to establish a two-party democracy will be resisted, said Jamaat leaders yesterday.

They were speaking at a rally at the north corner of Baitul Mokarram Mosque marking the Ballot Revolution Day.

'Dialogues can be held, but any decision has to be taken after the consensus from all the representatives in the parliament as Bangladesh is a country of multi-party democracy', Industries Minister and Jamaat Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami said.

The constitution has to be upheld and cannot be violated, he added.

Jamaat Secretary General and Social Welfare Minister Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid, Deputy Leader of the parliament lawmaker Abdus Sobhan, Assistant Secretary General Mohammad Quamruzzaman and Delwar Hossain Saidee were present at the meeting.
