Training on modern treatment of corneal disease at Islamia Eye Hospital


Islamia Eye Hospital (IEH) has started training programme for postgraduate ophthalmologists in order to improve the quality and standard of corneal treatment in the country, says a press release.

Currently they are running two types of cornea training programme: Clinical Attachment in Cornea and Cornea-Anterior Segment Fellowship Programme. IEH with the collaboration with ORBIS International and LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India, aims to offer world standard cornea service and cornea fellowship to train Bangladeshi ophthalmic community.

For the last five years IEH has been providing short term (8 weeks) training programme round the year. Under this programme, 28 ophthalmologists from different parts of Bangladesh both the government and non government candidates have been trained up with the programme of Clinical Attachment in Cornea.

From January 2006 it has started 15 months long term Cornea-Anterior Segment Fellowship programme termed as "Train the Trainers".

It will meet up the deficiency of expert hands in Bangladesh. With well equipped operation theaters IEH are doing all types of advanced international standard corneal surgeries.
