Drivers beat up doctor branding him 'carjacker'

A doctor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital and his two companions were injured as rental vehicle drivers beat them up last night at Muktangon following a row over hiring of a microbus.Dr Saifur Rahman, medical officer to the surgery department of BSMMU, was admitted to Orthopaedic Hospital with a broken leg while Kamil Reazul Hakim and Azgor Ali were undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Police said the three went to Muktangon around 8:00pm to hire a microbus and were involved in a feud with the drivers over fare. Following the altercation the drivers beat them up leaving them unconscious. They later handed them over to police branding them carjackers. The drivers alleged that the three brandished knives and attempted to carjack, police said.
