Day-long Nazrul symposium in US Sept 9
The Asian American Studies and the American Cultural Centre of Connecticut University, USA will jointly hold a daylong Nazrul symposium on September 9, 2006, says a press release of Nazrul Institute.

The seminar titled 'Kazi Nazrul Islam: Kobi, Manabtantrik o Bhabtantrik' will be presided by Dr Phillip Austine, the president of the university.

Photography and documentary, songs, recitation and dance will be also presented on the day.

Prof June McDaniel, in a programme regarding the symposium said, Islam is a progressive religion- a combination of insight, love and patience and Kazi Nazrul Islam upheld the image in his creation. With this end in view, we have decided to organise this programme'.

Shamser M Chowdhury, Bangladesh ambassador to the USA will attend the programme as special guest along with Prof Winston Langley, Prof Nila B Suxena, Prof Omor Faruq and Prof Phillis Herman. Nazrul Institute and expatriate Bengalis are assisting the programme.

Although a lot of symposiums on Nazrul are held across the globe every year, this is for the first time a daylong programme on a Bengali poet will be held in a USA university.
