A valiant freedom fighter, Prof Musharraf was also the founder VC of Hajee Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology, Dinajpur. He is the second graduate of the university who was appointed VC since its establishment 45 years ago.

Hailing from Kazaikata village of Nakla upazila in Sherpur, Prof Musharraf stood first class first in both BSc (Ag) honours and MSc (Ag) in 1971 and '72. He started his carrier as a lecturer of BAU Soil Science Department in 1975.
