Buet students get IEEE awards
Two student groups from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Buet have got first and second prizes in the IEEE Region-10 Student Paper Contest in undergraduate category, says a press release. Asif Islam Khan and Md Khalid Ashraf, students of Level 4, Term 1, got the first prize. They will receive US$ 300 and a certificate. Toufiq, Imtiaz and Shankhanaad, students of Level 4, Term 2, got the second prize. IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Inc, NY, USA) is the leading authority in electrical and computer engineering with over 3,75,000 members all over the world. IEEE Region-10, comprising all of Asia except Middle East, holds an annual student paper contest for over 20,000 student members in the region. This is one of the highest recognition that IEEE awards to its undergraduate student members for excellence in research and also one of the most prestigious awards for undergraduate research in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) all over the world. This is the first time Buet participated in the contest with three entries. A number of other entries from India, Pakistan, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong also competed for the prize.
