Italy parade trophy

The World Cup trophy was paraded around the field Saturday before Italy's first official game since winning the title.

The gold trophy sat on a pedestal that was raised through the sunroof of a blue car with "campioni" -- champions -- written across the side and four stars on it to represent Italy's four world titles.

The Azzurri also unveiled a fourth star on their blue jerseys when they faced Lithuania to open European Championship qualifying.

As the car rode around the track, the names of the players on the championship squad were read over the public address system.

The loudest cheers came for captain Fabio Cannavaro, who is from Naples and grew up as a ball boy at San Paolo when Diego Maradona played for Napoli.
