Workshop to create awareness among young debaters held
With a view to creating awareness among the young debaters of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a daylong debate workshop was held at UNDP auditorium in the city on Thursday, says a press release.United Nations (UN) and Department for International Development (DFID) jointly organised the workshop in association with Debate for Democracy. A total of 250 debaters from 30 educational institutions including Dhaka University, Sher e Bangla Agriculture University, United International University, Northern University, Mymensingh Medical College, Ideal School and College, Shaheed Bir Uttam Lieutenant Anwar Girls' College took part in the workshop. Communications Officer of UN Bangladesh Shakil Foyzullah coordinated the workshop while economist Dr Atiur Rahman and Dr Ainun Nishat spoke on the occasion. The workshop was divided into four parts where the debaters received detailed conception on eight Millennium Development Goals and present situation of Bangladesh in achieving the MDGs. ILO Country Director in Bangladesh Gopal K Bhattacharya distributed certificates among the participants at the closing session.
