BCU memo to DU VC

Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU) yesterday submitted a memorandum to the Vice-chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) to press home their 13-point demand. The left leaning student organisation placed the demand earlier on August 4 with a view to making DU an effective centre for higher education and keeping higher education within the reach of common people. The demands include immediate election to DU Central Students' Union, repeal of the proctorial law, a decrease in admission fee, implementation of the academic calendar and regular publication of examination results. BCU also demanded a rise in the funds for research works, internet facilities at the present dormitories and construction of new ones. Earlier, BCU held a rally on the campus. DU unit President Manobendra Dev at the rally said the 13-point demand is a basic demand of the DU students. He said BCU would continue agitation until the demand is met.
