Opening of new Ruet hall demanded

Students of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) yesterday threatened to enforce tougher movements against the university authorities demanding opening of a newly constructed hall for the general students.

Hundreds of students expressed dissatisfaction, as they could not get into the newly built Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall as the authorities are waiting for the PM to inaugurate the hall.

The construction of the five-storied hall, however, concluded six months ago, sources said.

The hall couldn't be inaugurated as per schedule since the visiting programme of the PM deferred.

In the recent days, the general students submitted several memorandums to the VC, registrar and student welfare director, demanding opening of the new hall.

The students alleged hundreds of students are suffering much as they are living outside the campus. They also suffer a lot for limited bus services.

VC Prof AFM Anwarul Haque said due to some formalities, the hall could not be opened in due time. But they are trying to open the hall soon.
