PM asks party men to work vigorously for polls


Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday asked her party's field level leaders to gear up mass contact and organisational activities ahead of the upcoming general elections.

She also asked them to work for the party candidates to be nominated for the next elections.

The prime minister gave the directives during a meeting with the party's grassroots level leaders at her 30 Hare Road office in the evening.

As many as 51 leaders, including presidents and general secretaries of Noakhali and Laxmipur districts exchanged their views with the party chairperson. Eight MPs of the two districts also met the party chief.

They apprised her of organisational activities and party's popularity in their respective areas.

BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, Senior Joint Secretary General Tarique Rahman, Prime Minister's Political Secretary Harris Chowdhury and BNP Office Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan were also present at the meeting.
