1 killed in Jhenidah clash


A man was killed and five others were injured in a clash between two rival groups over transaction of money at Pabahati in Jhenidah municipal area yesterday.

The dead was identified as Abu Bakar, 30, son of Barkat Ali of Pabahati village.

Police and villagers said Abu Bakr and his neighbour Habib had a brawl over transaction of money on Thursday night that left Habib injured. He was taken to Sadar Hospital.

Following the incident, Habib's associates allegedly attacked Bakar yesterday morning that triggered a clash, leaving five injured.

Of the injured, Bakar, Akkas and Taizel were rushed to Sadar Hospital in critical condition.

Bakar succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

A case has been filed with Sadar Police Station in the connection.
