Health System Action Network launched
Brac, Care on steering body

Thirty-one health system leaders from all over the world have agreed to launch a Health System Action Network (HSAN) to increase the understanding of health issues at both the global and national level in order to achieve urgent health priorities.

Policymakers, clinicians, economists, pharmacists, human resources professionals and journalists took the decision at a meeting held in Toronto, Canada, recently.

Representatives from Brac and Care Bangladesh have been included in the steering committee of HSAN.

The HSAN will share information by linking health system leaders through a global network and will provide input for global and donor initiatives, says a press release.

Participants from Bangladesh, Chile, Costa Rica, Georgia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Russia, Senegal, South Africa, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkmenistan and Uganda attended the meeting.

In its first two years, the HSAN will educate the stakeholders and will advocate for investing in strong health systems, enhance access to health-related information across the globe and will develop a system to measure, track and compare country progress towards strengthening health systems.
