Stay order on 52 ACC officials' posting vacated

The High Court (HC) yesterday vacated a stay order on posting of 52 deputy assistant directors (DAD) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The division bench of Justice Syed M Dastagir Husain and Justice Mamnoon Rahman gave the order following a prayer of ACC officials. Another HC division bench passed the stay order last month.

The ACC officials told The Daily Star the posting order of the 52 DADs, who were inspectors of now defunct Bureau of Anti Corruption (Bac), is valid now and there is no bar for them to work for the ACC.

The HC had stayed the order following a writ petition filed by former Bac inspector Jahangir Hossain challenging legality of the posting order.

The ACC after screening Bac staff retained 52 inspectors and appointed and posted them as DAD in different position in July. Jahangir was excluded after the screening.
