Indonesia offers scholarships to 16 students
The government of Indonesia has offered postgraduate and undergraduate scholarships for 2006-2007 to Bangladeshi students for the first time, says a press release.

Six students were awarded postgraduate scholarships in the fields of humanities, science, agricultural science, social science, engineering and education. This is a three-year education programme meant for the students from Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member countries through the Developing Countries Partnership Scholarship (DCPS).

For this programme, the Indonesian government will provide tuition fees, living allowance, monthly stipend for research and books and return air tickets for the students.

Ten students were selected for the one-year undergraduate scholarship programme in the fields of traditional music and dance, art, culture and Indonesian language.

For this programme, the Indonesian government will provide tuition fees, living allowance, dress allowance, accommodation and other related facilities.

The scholarship programmes are scheduled to begin in September. Reputed state universities and Indonesian College of Art (STSI) will organise and conduct the programmes.

The cultural and educational programmes will help strengthen the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Bangladesh, said the press release of the Indonesian embassy in Dhaka.
