Barisal judges killed as plotted by top brass
Confesses JMB bomber

A Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) assailant confessed that he bombed two Jahalakathi judges to death in an outrageous attack laid out by his leaders Abdur Rahman, Siddqul Islam (Bangla Bhai), Ataur Rahman Sunny and Abdul Awal.

Deputy Attorney General Helal Uddin Mollah yesterday read out the confessional statement of Iftekhar Hossain al Mamun (Shihab) during the hearing of death reference of seven top JMB leaders.

A Barisal court on May 29 handed death sentence to JMB linchpin Abdur Rahman, his deputy Bangla Bhai and five other militants in this sensational murder case.

The death reference bench, which heard 250 out of 325 page paper book (history of the case), will sit on Sunday for further hearing. Helal Uddin Mollah read out deposition of 44 witnesses.

The others to walk the gallows are JMB Majlish-e-Shura members Ataur Rahman Sunny, Abdul Awal and Khaled Saifullah, suicide bomber Iftekhar and Asadur Rahman Arif. Of them, Arif is still at large.

None of the seven militants has appealed to the High Court against the death sentence.
