Sandipan finish in style

Sandipan Chatterjee of Kolkata completed a brilliant trip as he finished as unbeaten champion in the Class VI to X group in the 8th Standard Chartered School Chess Tournament at the NSC conference room yesterday. Sayantan Das, who also hails from Kolkata, did the same as she also clinched the title unbeaten in the class KG to V group. Sayantan earned 8½ points. A prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of chief guest CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Osman Morad, President of Bangladesh Chess Federation Syed Shujauddin Ahmed, general secretary Jamilur Rahman, and vice-president Professor Jahangir Chowdhury. The last round games were held yesterday morning. In the last round Babu, Aniruddah, Sayantan, Saayan and Siam won their matches respectively. As many as 222 students from 58 school participated in the tournament.
