BNP alone can win polls, says Bhuiyan

LGRD Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan yesterday said the BNP alone is can easily win the next election. He also said his party will welcome anybody willing to join the ruling alliance. He was addressing a rally organised by the BNP Dhaka city unit at Muktangon yesterday, protesting 'anarchy and the conspiracy' to destroy the election by the main opposition party. Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka presided over the rally. BNP supporters brought out processions with festoons and banners. At the beginning of the rally two groups of activists of Demra thana BNP led by two rival leaders Salahuddin Ahmed MP and ward commissioner Nabiullah Nabi were engaged in chase and counter chase that left at least three activists injured. Addressing the rally as chief guest, Mannan Bhuiyan said everybody should work together for the ruling coalition to win the next election. "The AL-led 14-party coalition has no chance to win the next election as the people are with us," he said. "They (AL) have destroyed the possibility of a dialogue on reform proposal by setting their preconditions because they don't want to hold a free and fair election," the LGRD minister said and urged the opposition to sit for a dialogue. Health and Family Planning Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Law Minister Moudud Ahmad, Housing and Works Minister Mirza Abbas, State Minister for Labour and Employment Aman Ullah Aman, Barkatullah Bulu, Salauddin Ahmed MP and Nazim Uddin Alam also spoke at the rally.
