BCS (Agri) Assoc submits memo to PM today

BCS (Agriculture) Association Action Committee will submit a memorandum to the prime minister today to press their demand for higher grades in their jobs.

A total of 534 posts under the 7th grade were upgraded to the 6th grade in 2001, but the officers are being deprived of 100 percent selection grade as these posts are yet to be included in the BCS Agriculture Composition and Cadre Rules, the action committee leaders Md Hasanuzzaman Majumder and Hasanul Haq Panna said in a press release.

Besides, officers are not getting promotion although there are 250 vacant posts under the 6th grade, they said, adding that entry-level officers are also not getting their selection grade on completion of their four years of service.

As a result, frustration has gripped the officers of different level.

To press their demand for removal of such anomalies, the officers will also observe a two-hour work abstention programme daily during the period from August 3 to 15.

The leaders also threatened that they would announce fresh action programmes on August 17 if the demands go unheeded.
