The Awami League (AL)-led 14-party opposition combine yesterday decided to observe a countrywide half-day hartal on August 15, the day Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated, demanding immediate execution of the verdict of Bangabandhu killing case. The Bangabandhu killing case has been pending with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) for five years. "We have unanimously decided to observe the half-day hartal, from 6:00am to 12:00noon, on behalf of the 14-party," Abdul Jalil, coordinator of the 14-party, told newsmen after a meeting at his Nam flat in the capital. Jalil said they are at the peak of their anti-government movement.
