Sri Lankan HC presents credential


The newly appointed High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh Vadiyel Krishnamoorthy presented his credentials to Acting President Barrister Muhammad Jamiruddin Sircar at Bangabhaban in the city yesterday.

Welcoming the new High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Acting President congratulated him on his new assignment as the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh, said a press release.

Barrister Sircar stated that Bangladesh attaches great importance to its relations with Sri Lanka and is deeply committed to the promotion of peace, progress and development through bilateral and regional cooperation. He expressed satisfaction at the existing excellent relations between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The Acting President mentioned that Bangladesh and Sri Lanka both are developing countries and possibilities of expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries are great. He stated that both countries should explore all avenues of cooperation for mutual benefits of the two peoples. He also underlined the policies of the government of Bangladesh based on good governance and poverty alleviation through viable micro-credit scheme, higher literacy rate, faster pace of rural development.
