Chief whip hospitalised

Chief Whip Khondkar Delwar Hossain was admitted to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) and Hospital with lung infection yesterday.

The chief whip is undergoing "conservative" treatment under Prof Abdullah AL Shafi Majumdar in Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital, medical sources said.

Prof Majumdar told the news agency that the chief whip is suffering from lung infection that also resulted in failure of the left ventricle of his heart.

"Left ventricle failure (LVF) has weakened the pumping action of chief whip's heart. Besides, he is also suffering from diabetics and kidney complications," Prof Majumdar said.
