Prof Nurul Islam to be buried today
National Professor AKM Nurul Islam, also a faculty member at the Department of Botany of Dhaka University (DU), will be laid to rest at 1:30pm today at Uttara sector 4 graveyard, a DU press release says.His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at DU central mosque at 10:30am and the second one at Uttara sector 3 central mosque at 1:15pm. University authorities requested all to attend the namaz-e-janaza. The body will be kept at the Department of Botany from 11:00am to 11:30am for teachers and students to pay their last respect. Prof AKM Nurul Islam passed away due to a cardiac arrest on July 1. BSS adds: Prime Minister Khaleda Zia expressed deep shock at the death of Prof Islam. In a message of condolence, she recalled his contribution to education and research. She also conveyed sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for salvation of his departed soul. BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan also condoled the death of Prof Islam.
