Patients suffer as RMCH interns continue strike
Our Correspondent, Rangpur
The patients admitted to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) have been facing untold sufferings, as the intern doctors' strike continued for second consecutive day yesterday. The Intern Doctors Association at RMCH called the indefinite strike on Thursday to press their two point demands. These include taking immediate actions against the people responsible for attack on the association president Ali Reza and demolition of the unauthorised structures on the college campus. RMCH Director Shahjahan Biswas yesterday met the association leaders and requested them to withdraw their strike, but they refused to do it until their demands are met. "A case was lodged against some locals who allegedly beat up an intern doctor and a college student," Shajahan Biswas told the journalists expressing hope that the police will take action against them soon. Regarding demolition of the shops inside RMCH campus, the director said that he conveyed the subject to the committee concerned.
