Five trafficked girls return from India

Five Bangladeshi girls, trafficked to India two years ago, were sent back to the country through Benapole check post yesterday.

They are Shahnaz, 15, of Rajbari, Nihar, 14, of Narail, Jamila Khatun, 15, of Khulna, Khadija Khatun, 15, of Jessore and Hosne Ara Shilpi, 16, of Satkhira.

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over the girls to BDR, police and the representative of Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association (BNWLA) at noon.

BDR sources said Kolkata police rescued the girls from the traffickers and sent them to jail hajat.

Later, an NGO in Kolkata brought the girls to their own shelter from jail hajat.
