Attack on BNP leader's motorcade in Gazipur

Seven BNP activists, including its central executive committee member Khandaker Abdus Salam, were injured in an attack on Salam's motorcade at Baliadi in Kaliakoir upazila yesterday.Police said some 15-20 youths swooped on the motorcade with rods and sticks when it reached the area from Dhaka at about 12.30pm as part of his mass contact. The attackers damaged two vehicles, leaving the seven people, including Abdus Salam, injured. After receiving first aid from local hospital, Salam along with his supporters brought out a procession in the area and held a rally at Kaliakoir bus stand, protesting the attack. Addressing the rally, Salam alleged that unruly supporters of his rival carried out the attack on his motorcade and demanded exemplary punishment to the attackers. He also filed a case with local police station.
