Ontorjatra hits the big screen


Tareque Masud and Catherine Masud's latest feature film, Ontorjatra, was released on June 2 at the Star Cineplex in Bashundhara City. The chief guest at the press show was Professor Anisuzzaman. Anisur Rahman of Masraanga Productions Ltd, Dr June Rollinson, director of British Council, and Catherine Masud spoke on the occasion.

The film traces the story of a mother and son who return to Bangladesh after 15 years overseas. The cast includes Sara Zaker, Rifaqat Rasheed, Abdul Momen Chowdhury and Rokeya Prachy.

Ontorjatra is not only the first film to be shot in digital format for transfer to 35 mm film, but also the first to have a fully Dolby digital 5.1 surround sound in our country. The film was made with the support of the British Council and is being presented in Bangladesh by Maasranga Productions Ltd.

The press show was well attended, with a large turnout of film and media personalities along with the cast and crew of the film.
