Comilla comes to life with seminar and cultural event

The launching ceremony of 'Rabindra Sangeet Sanskriti and Parimal Dutta Sharok Grontha' was held at the Comilla town hall auditorium recently. The function was organised by Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad, Comilla branch.

As part of the programme, a discussion was chaired by Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam. Veteran cultural activist Nurul Anwar presented the keynote paper on Parimal Dutta's life and work. The paper also delineated how his works inspired his contemporaries and how it still maintains relevance. Shantanu Kaisar, Professor Amir Ali Choudhury, Zaidul Hossain and Papri Basu took part in the discussion on the paper. Veteran writer principal Shantanu Kaisar said the works of Parimal Dutta were gradually fading away, though he continues to inspire the common people.

The seminar was followed by a cultural programme, featuring songs of Mohuya Rahman, Penaki Shadu, Mita Pal and others. Ustad Afzalul Rahman and Anwara Rahman played the sarod while Antara Rahman played the violin.
