Nurul Amin, who was suspended as per recommendation of a seven-member probe committee on May 10 also threatened two other teachers, Prof Anisuzzman and Prof Mahbubur Rahman, for being witnesses in the matter.

The victim, following the threat, lodged complaints with the departmental chairman and university proctor. The two teachers also filed a general diary (GD) with Motiher Police Station, department sources said.

Meanwhile, another high powered probe committee headed by Social Science Faculty Dean Prof Sadekul Islam was formed for further investigation. The committee collected evidences from the departmental teachers and male and female students.

A teacher of the department told newsman on condition of anonymity that Prof Amin is a powerful pro-BNP teacher and the probe committee members are also pro- BNP teachers. So, there is every chance for a biased report, he added.

Meanwhile, the university students have threatened a tougher agitation on the campus if the probe committee fails to submit report on time and the accused teacher is not punished.

Prof Amin could not be contacted despite several attempts to reach him over telephone.
