Amra Sylhet Bashi calls it a conspiracy against Saifur

A section of leading people in Sylhet city under the banner of newly formed Amra Sylhet Bashi (we the people of Sylhet), at a press conference in the city yesterday alleged that a deep rooted conspiracy is going on against Finance Minister M Saifur Rahman, a lawmaker from the area. "If Saifur has to resign as a result of any conspiracy, we will launch a tougher agitation in the region", a written statement read out at the press conference said. Prof M Enayetullah, former Principal of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College, read out the statement. The statement called upon BNP chief to take action against the 'conspirators'. A 101-men committee has been formed for this, he said. Former presidents of Sylhet district bar association Shamsul Islam Chowdhury and Soleman Raja Chowdhury, former principal of Sylhet Government Womens college Prof MA Matin, District Bar president Dewan Golam Rabbani Chowdhury, Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Faruque Ahmed Misbah, its ex-president Md. Mohiuddin, Madan Mohan College Principal Ataur Rahman Pir, Sylhet Bibhag Ganodabi Parishad Advisor Moulana Abdur Raquib also attended the press conference. On the other hand, speakers at a rally held at Biswanath upazila headquarters, expressed support to Ilyas Ali MP, who hails from the area. Without naming Saifur, they said, some unwanted comments by a senior minister about the young MP have hurt the people of Biswanath and Balaganj. If needed we would take to streets, they said. Headmaster of Ramsundar High School in Biswanath, Tojommul Ali, chaired the rally.
