World Cancer Survivors' Day today
World Cancer Survivors' Day will be observed as a celebration of life in Bangladesh for the first time today, says a press release. The day is observed across the world on the first Sunday of June every year. Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital, Bangladesh Cancer Society, National Cancer Research Institute, Directorate of Health Services, Nurses Directorate, Bangladesh Scouts, Girls Guides, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Gono Swasthya Kendra, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Bangladesh Cancer Foundation, Diganta Memorial Foundation and Ashik Foundation take joint programme to observe the day. The programmes include a colourful possession, a discussion and experience sharing session of the cancer survivors, decorating traffic islands and distribution of cancer awareness materials. The procession will be brought out from the Scout Bhaban at Kakrail at 8:00am and will end in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the city. An open discussion and experience sharing session of the cancer survivors will be held in the Shahid Dr Milan auditorium of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University at 9:00am.
