President improves further

The condition of President Iajuddin Ahmed, now undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore, has improved further, with post-operative infections under control.

"Various tests have shown that all medications given to the President were effective," the President's Press Secretary M Mokhlesur Rahman Chowdhury said referring to the observations made by the attending physicians.

The functions of the President's heart and kidneys continue to improve and his blood pressure is at a good level.

The X-rays of the lungs of the president have also shown incremental improvement over the last three days.

A team of attending physicians expressed satisfaction over the health condition of the President who "appeared to be mentally fully alert and focused."
