The city streets go under water even after little rain due to poor drainage system and the sewer system cannot work properly because of illegal occupation of water bodies, they said at a rally organised by Save the Environment Movement.

They demanded recovery of all occupied water bodies in the cities, enactment of new laws to keep waterways free from encroachment and overhaul of the drainage and sewer systems.

Presided over by President of Dhaka Metropolitan Bar Association advocate Abed Reza, the rally was addressed by Save the Environment Movement Convener Abu Naser Khan, Dr Jasmine Ara Sultana Sathi and Hossain Arju.
