AMD Fab 38

Module Shift Manager Peter John presents a 300-millimetre wafer at the Fab 30 plant of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), on May 29 in Dresden, eastern Germany. AMD, the US maker of computer chips, plans to invest 2.5 billion dollars in expanding capacity at its Dresden factory over the next three years. AMD said it was planning a new semi-conductor plant to be called AMD Fab 38 at its Dresden site. And it also planned to switch production at its existing AMD Fab 30 plant from 200-milimetre wafers to 300-milimetre wafers. PHOTO: AFP
