4 RU teachers face PBCP death threat in Rajshahi

At least four teachers of Rajshahi University (RU) received death threats from the outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP). The teachers are: Prof Kamal Krisna Biswas of Bio-Chemistry Department, Prof Hamidur Rahman of Geology and Mining Department, Prof Shuvas Chandra Pal of Chemistry Department and Prof Jayanta Rani Bashak of Library and Information Science Department. A panic has been created among the teachers due to the threats. All the teachers handed over a written statement to the university registrar, Prof Abdus Salam expressing their great concern over the threats on Thursday. Teachers said, PBCP threatened them several times over land telephone and cell phones to either pay TK 2 lakh each or face death. Earlier, the four teachers filed a general diary (GD) with Motiher police after they got such threat. When contacted, the university proctor, Prof Enamul Haque confirmed the incident saying, 'We informed the police and took necessary steps regarding the matter'.
