Malaysian trade team due today

A high-profile Malaysian trade delegation arrives here today with significant investment proposals in port, infrastructure and chemical fertilizer.The 11-member delegation of Malaysian South-South Association (MSSA) and Malaysia Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) will stay in Bangladesh until June 7, processing the investment packages in consultation with government authorities. They will have discussions with the commerce minister and top executives of the Board of Investment (BoI), the FBCCI, Bepza, Export Promotion Bureau, Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other chamber bodies. Secretary General of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) Syed Moazzam Hossain told the news agency that the delegation would take a close look at the investment climate in the country, especially in Chittagong seaport. "Malaysia has huge interest in investment in the seaport for increasing its efficiency and they (delegation members) are likely to discuss it with the government during the visit," he said.
