BSF kills 1

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) gunned down a Bangladeshi cattle trader at Tarali, a bordering village under Swarupnagar Police Station of North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, early yesterday.

The dead was identified as Mokhlesur Rahman, 18, of village Boalia in Kalaroa upazila.

According to 41 Rifles Battalion sources, the Indian border guards of Hakimpur camp opened fire on Mokhlesh while he was returning home with cattle from India.

The BSF men took away the body, according to a report received from across the border.

When contacted, Lt Col Asadur Rahman Khan, commanding officer (CO) of 41 Rifles Battalion, confirmed the incident.

He, however said, the BDR sent a letter to its Indian counterpart demanding return of the body through a flag meeting. The BSF did not respond as of 6:00pm yesterday.
