Militants hidden within 4-party
Says Ahab leader, claims they're innocent

Ahle Hadith Andolon Bangladesh (Ahab) Acting Ameer Dr Muhammad Muslehuddin yesterday condemned Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh for 'conspiring' against his organisation, which he claimed has no links with any militant activities.

Ahab is being falsely implicated in the militant activities, he said at the grand conference organised by Ahab and Bangladesh Ahle Hadith Jubo Sangha at Muktangon in the capital.

Making an oblique reference to Jamaat-e-Islami, he said some quarters hidden in the 4-party alliance government had been conducting militant activities in the country.

"It is due to the Jamaat's conspiracy that the grand conference of Ahle Hadith Andolon that was earlier scheduled to be held in the Paltan Maidan, is being held at Muktangon," Muslehuddin said at the conference.

Jamaat began arranging their stage in Paltan Maidan ten days ahead of their June 3 Rukan conference in a pre-planned way so that Ahle Hadith Andolon's cannot be held there, Ahab leaders said.

Muslehuddin, who presided over the conference, said Ahab has no link with Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) but the alliance government has blamed Ahab for militant activities in the country.

Some youths of JMB started militant activities six or seven years back, but they were not brought to trial, he said, adding, "Had they been arrested and punished, bombing operations would not take place in the country."

He, however, said some such youths were once members of Ahab.

Many leaders of BNP and Awami League were members of Ahab, he said, adding that it is a religious organisation and has no links with any militant activities.

"If the alliance government wants to repress Ahab in the name of taking action against the JMB, the latter will survive. This is just a conspiracy against Ahab," he said.

He demanded release of Ahab leaders including its Ameer Asadullah Al Galib.
