Kuwait emir due June 10

Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah arrives in Dhaka on June 10 at the invitation of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, official sources said.Investment in Bangladesh's potential energy sector and import of oil from the oil-rich Gulf state at concessional rate may top the agenda of official talks between the two countries. The Emir flies in the capital on the first leg of his four-nation tour that will also take him to India, Pakistan and Thailand. He will be leading an 80-member team. During Khaleda's recent visit to Kuwait, the government of the gulf state agreed to sell oil to Bangladesh at concessional price and withdrew restrictions on recruitment of workers from Bangladesh. According to the sources, the energy ministry has already sent suggestions on the issues to the finance ministry to set the agenda. They said the Kuwait leaders showed their great interest in investing in the energy sector of Bangladesh. Particularly, they expressed an earnest desire to build fuel storage and special jetty at the Bay coast, which will be directly connected with the state-owned Eastern Refinery located a Chittagong port through pipeline.
