'Don't support the infidel nations'

I wonder if the 'hujur' who gave this khutba has the same sentiment when Bengalis fly a Pakistani flag when a Pakistani cricket team wins. Granted the latter is an 'Islamic' nation, but I hope he does not feel that we can just overlook the rape of our mothers, daughters and sisters, the systematic subjugation of our people, the murder of innocent human beings in 1971... just because... maybe they are 'Muslims'. I'm not accusing him of being a rajakaar or being rajakaar minded, but I wonder... what he was thinking! These 'hujurs' are hijacking our religion, hijacking our way of life, punishing us for exercising our basic right to think freely and act freely by dictating what is Islamic and what is not. I am not a learned man, but I am a human being and a Muslim. I find it offensive and highly irritating when these 'hujurs' warp our religion and start spitting out fatwas and khutbas that have no bearing on how a decent human should live.

Celebration has always been a part of our culture and as long as no one is getting hurt, it should not be made a big deal. When I say our culture I mean to say Bengali culture NOT the Arab culture. Granted the majority of Bengalis within the political boundary of Bangladesh are Muslims, but we are not Arabs.

However, we should not censor the 'hujur', he has a right to rant about whatever he pleases as do I. But we must not forget that Islam never teaches one to hate others.
